“Fillers” are injectable materials, usually comprised of hylauronic acid, that are used to augment facial volume. As we age, we lose both bony volume, and loss of fat and soft tissue. Over time this results in a hollowed appearance, deflation of the lips, descent of facial tissue, and a deepening of lines such as the tear trough near the eyes, and the naso-labial fold between the nose and the mouth.

Fillers come in various compositions designed to be injected in different places in the face. They typically are not permanent, but may last anywhere from months to a year or more.
